Can I witness my testing or is it done behind closed doors?

If you are a product designer, regulatory manager, product manager, quality manager… the list goes on.

Regardless of your job title, if you are involved in the design, development, testing and certification of Respiratory Protective Equipment then we firmly believe that there is much value to be had from witnessing the testing of your product.

So the answer is yes, you can witness your testing and no, our doors aren’t closed. If the testing is a formal approval testing project then obviously we can’t allow you to be involved in the testing. However, there are a number of benefits from being present to observe:

  1. It can be difficult to picture and understand a test setup based purely on what the standard describes or shows in schematic diagrams. Witnessing testing gives you an insight into how the tests are actually conducted.
  2. If the test involves human test subjects then you can get instant insights into how people interpret your user instructions and don, use and doff your equipment. These people have been separate from the design process and therefore something that makes sense to you, may not make sense to them.
  3. It gives the chance to discuss interpretations of the standard and the pros and cons of various pieces of test equipment.
  4. It gives you an insight into the test method so you can re-create the test for yourself.
  5. If you have prototypes or design variations of a new product it allows you quickly see the performance of each one. We call this development or pre-approval testing.

Time and time again we have seen customers learn things about testing, and even their own product, that they would not have done had they not been present.

If you would like to discuss the possibility of witnessing your testing, why not reach out to one of our team?
